Why 'Brain First'?

What does the brain have to do with challenging behaviors? Everything, actually. Neuroscience research tells us that the brain and behaviors are always connected. That's why, when we parent from a brain first framework -- thinking brain first, and then behavior -- our child's challenging behaviors are reduced and we shift toward greater connection and less frustration in our parenting experience.

Maybe you're tired...

of feeling as though your home is a place of chaos, and nothing you do as a parent works to make your child less challenging. You're frustrated that you use very good parenting techniques with your child, the same approach your parents used with you, and your friends use with their children, yet instead of making things better it actually makes your child's behavior worse. You have a growing sense of hopelessness that things will ever get better. You feel like over the years of struggling to parent your child with challenging behaviors, you've completely lost your sense of self in the midst of it all.

You just need...

straight-forward, actionable information on how to help your challenging child and your family experience less tension and more joy. You need a roadmap that helps you understand your child's behaviors in a different way, so that from there, you can parent them more successfully. You just need help understanding why the things you've been doing aren't working, and what you can do instead.

It's time to transform:

... your understanding of your child.

... your understanding of yourself as a parent.

... the chaos in your home into a calmer environment.

... a sense of hopelessness or frustration into confidence and clarity.

In this independent, self-guided course, you'll gain:

CONNECTION

Hear about the experiences of other parents who have children with neurobehavioral differences and challenging behavioral symptoms. Learn about ways to connect with other parents who "get it" and share your lived experience.

STRATEGIES

Complete the self-guided course with concrete strategies on forming a deeper connection with your challenging child and parenting them in ways that align with their unique brain function.

TOOLS

The neurobehavioral roadmap you need, plus tools for parenting your child with challenging behavioral symptoms. You'll have all the information you need to continue growing your parenting skills for years to come.

HOPE

There is more hope for us and our families than we are ever led to believe. This training acknowledges how difficult this parenting experience can be, while also believing that suffering does not have to be the final destination.

CLARITy

Here, you can find reprieve, rising above the chaos of the day-to-day and gaining clarity on not only what might be going on for your child, but also what is going on with YOU, and what you can do to impact both.

Meet Eileen

Eileen Devine is a parent coach and mother to a child with a neurobehavioral disability that has challenging behavioral symptoms.

Eileen has over a 15 years of clinical experience and is the adoptive mother of a child with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD), a serious neurobehavioral condition. She believes that when we understand the way a child's brain works, we then understand the meaning behind challenging behaviors. Eileen's goal is to not only support parents in feeling more competent and confident in connecting with their child by parenting from a Brain First perspective, but to also recognize their experience as the parent of a child with challenging behavioral symptoms and the impact this has on their sense of self and well-being. When these two sides of the coin can be equally addressed, there is less frustration and increased hope in this unique parenting journey.

Eileen has her License in Clinical Social Work and is a certified FASCETS facilitator. She has also completed Tier 1 training in Think:Kids Collaborative Problem Solving. In addition to facilitating trainings for organizations nationally and internationally, Eileen is also an instructor for C.A.S.E.’s Training for Adoption Competency, where she trains mental health professionals in becoming adoption competent.

Ready to begin the transformation and dive into the Brain First model?

What people say:

“As a result of working with Eileen, I feel better able to confront the grief that is stifling my relationship with my family.”
